How safe and reliable are online mobile repair companies?
March 19, 2020
There are a number of different scenarios when it comes to ways a smartphone can get damaged. You accidentally dropped your smartphone while sending a friend a text message and the screen is now cracked or shattered. Or your smartphone slipped out of your hands while you were taking a selfie, it fell into a fountain, and you were able to fish it out but now it doesn’t work. You listened to the advice of your friends and dropped your phone into a bag of instant rice to suck out the moisture and nothing happened. You can’t afford a new phone at the moment, so you need options for What’s your next step?
If your phone is still under warranty, you can return it to the manufacturer to be fixed. In most cases, you’ll probably need to mail it in, then wait a couple of weeks while they get it back in prime working order, then they’ll ship it back to you. If you have an iPhone, you can always go to an Apple Store, but you’ll probably need an appointment and they are usually booked up several days in advance.
If you’re not under warranty, or you don’t want to wait several days (or weeks) to have a working phone again, there are independent shops you can find in your area by doing a quick online search. There are some online repair facilities, but again, you’ll need to mail your phone in for repair. Even if they can turn it around more quickly than sending your phone back to the original manufacturer, the parts they use will probably be of lesser quality than you’ll want.
If you want safety and reliability, look for a repair facility that has an actual location you can visit so you can speak with a technician about your repair, the parts they use, pricing, and how long it’ll take for the repair to be completed. Better yet, if they have multiple facilities, you should be able to locate one near you, and a company that supports more than one store will probably have better access to the parts you’ll need for your repair.
